Telecom Giant Improves Sales Management with Cross-Platform App

challenge

Outdated Technology Preventing Company Growth

Cox is part of a media conglomerate that aggregates 20 markets across the United States. Their internet and telecommunication services as well as smart solutions reach 52 million Americans weekly and they own 100+ news outlets. In 2019, they decided it was time to re-design a native iOS app used by their sales representatives, which is an integral part of their sales pitch and process. Its outdated technology was preventing their teams from identifying client needs and offering the right solutions. The product had a number of limitations: the app was limited to compatibility with Apple products and it was difficult to update. Every time the Cox marketing team needed to change text or a visual aspect, they had to assemble a development team to make the changes and deploy them. Their goal was to engage on a cross-platform mobile development to launch a more flexible, agile app compatible with any cell phone or tablet.

DEVELOPING A FULLY CUSTOMIZABLE APP

We partnered with Cox through a partner agency that specialized in marketing and design. They have no in-house development teams to build digital products, hence our partnership. When Cox presented their software needs, our partner knew they would need our tech expertise to bring the envisioned solution to fruition. While the agency provided the designs, our team translated them into software. As Cox already had a CMS in place to manage content, our solution integrated with their platform to easily access texts, images and other data. The goal was to create a full customizable product so the app would adapt faster and better to Cox marketing initiatives.

A RESPONSIVE APP BUILT IN RECORD TIME

We chose React Native for this product, a cross-platform framework that generates high-performance, consistently efficient apps. We put a lot of focus on responsiveness to make sure it looked great on any device. Our developers collaborated with the agency design team and the Product Owner to ensure we delivered the product in record time, and we did, in only two months. Our developers traveled to the US to work side by side with the rest of the team, which was a key moment for making informed decisions and aligning the product’s technical and business aspects. Throughout our visit we worked together on requirements and improvements before launch.
