Rural Sourcing Hosts Fifth Annual Hackathon in Augusta

Augusta, Ga. – October 10, 2016 – Rural Sourcing, the leading provider of US-based IT outsourcing services, is excited to announce its third annual hackathon is scheduled to take place in Jonesboro on October 14th at the Enterprise Mill in the Starch Room from 12:00 – 5:00 pm.

Each team will be given four hours to create a project that has yet to be revealed. Following a presentation to a panel of judges, the first place winners of the event will receive a coveted paid internship at Rural Sourcing, which has been recognized as one of 100 top organizations selected for Computerworld’s 2016 Best Places to Work in IT. Food and drinks will be provided to all participants and prizes are awarded every hour throughout the day.

Unlike traditional hackathons where solutions to hypothetical situations are presented and solved, this event will involve working on a specific project for a local organization. This year’s hackathon is inspired by an old school theme and will feature at least six teams of three to four local college students.

“This year’s hackathon is very special to us given that for the past five years, we’ve been extremely successful in meeting, recruiting and hiring students from this event,” said Margaux Kaynard, vice president of human resources at Rural Sourcing.

The panel of judges includes Robert Bennett, executive director at the Development Authority of Columbia County; Eric Parker, president and founder of CONima, co-founder of theClubhou.se, co-founder and board chair of HACK Augusta, co-organizer of TEDxAugusta, and business partner in Sand Hill Endeavors; and John Dingfelder, director of corporate relations at the Technology Association of Georgia.
