When you have a product strategy you have a framework in which you want to actualize a company’s vision. Change management is how you’ll adopt those changes. In this Tech in 2, Principal Consultant Toyia Smith shares four tips to implement change management in product development.
Understand the Size and Impact
When you’re looking at doing a change management plan you want to size it. You want to understand how big of a change you have and what’s the impact of the change. How is it going to impact one person or everyone in the organization? It’s important to understand that size so that you can create a strategy to support that size of a change.
Create Intentional Communications
A communication plan is critical because you need to understand how are you going to communicate it, who do you need to communicate it to and create a plan of action of how frequently are you going to communicate what’s coming so that people can get ready for the change and be ready to adapt it.
Develop a Resistance Strategy
There’s going to be people that are resistant to that and having some type of strategy on how you’re going to manage resistance is imperative.
Identify Change Sponsors
It’s important to identify change sponsors because you need to know who is going to support the change that you’re trying to implement in your organization. Your change sponsors are key to supporting the change and actualizing the change through the organization. So identifying various people throughout the organization that can support the change, that can seat you various aspects of the change being implemented and even committing to maybe piloting the change and seeing how it works is going to make sure that your change management plan is successful.
Adaptation in Software Modernization
Traditionally, capital investments were very concrete (ie building a factory on the river because you needed water to power the mill), but nowadays in software development, things are easier to change. Modernization in the Insurance Industry
Platform modernization is becoming an increasing priority for insurers, particularly for tenured insurers with legacy applications.
