Rearchitected eCommerce Platform Increases Revenue, Stability and Speed

challenge

Critical Improvements Needed to Gain Additional Market Share

Prior to taking the company public, this leading automotive eCommerce site needed to make major improvements to its platform. They initially needed to speed up their development operation and improve their SEO, which would drive gains in market share. After completing this initial redesign and going public, they were looking to fully revamp their outdated architecture and move from on-premise to the Cloud (AWS). The new architecture needed to allow for third-party integrations, which were critical for the company to make acquisitions. Simultaneously, they needed to ensure that their legacy platform was properly maintained.

solution

A Lean and Flexible Cloud-based Environment

By utilizing Elixir on the AWS-enabled version of their website, our team was able to build a lean and flexible environment for our client’s platform. It also allowed them to optimize third-party solutions by using a vibrant API architecture. Due to the new architecture, the site is able to connect and utilize outside resources without adding too much complexity to the site’s infrastructure.

results

Performance and Speed Improvements, Key Acquisitions and JD Power Accolades

Our replatforming of the website took just eight months, rather than our client’s initial estimate of over a year. The new site could now be viewed from any device, was more user friendly and visually appealing, and showed a 15% improvement in performance speed. Traffic to the shopping section of their website increased YOY by 965% and received the number one ranking in JD Power for third party website satisfaction. The new platform also allows our client to more effectively make key acquisitions due to the ease of integration of technologies, enabling them to be more competitive in the marketplace.
