Revolutionizing the Procurement Industry Using AI

challenge

ENGAGING PROTOTYPE NEEDED TO ATTRACT POTENTIAL INVESTORS

SpendSage is an intuitive SaaS solution that aims at streamlining businesses’ purchasing processes. This startup was co-founded by a tech enthusiast who has spent 20+ years working on procurement and identified a need in this industry. The platform analyzes and categorizes expenses to make smart suggestions boosted by an AI motor. The web app feeds on the company data that is uploaded and also gathers information from the industry, including political and economical signals, to consider the whole picture before advising users on how and when they should spend. But, before moving forward with this new product development, the founders wanted to create a visual and interactive prototype to demo their idea to potential investors and bring them on.

CREATING AN AI-POWERED MINIMAL VIABLE PROTOTYPE IN ONE MONTH

Before investing in the whole product development, SpendSage’s co-founders decided it was time to look for investors that could back up the plan. They reached out to us looking for a partner with product-focused web expertise that could help build a user-friendly, appealing prototype to deliver a compelling demo of the product idea.

We kicked off the project with a brief Discovery phase to set a clear roadmap for the project and understand the solution and users’ needs better. The next four weeks were focused on designing the prioritized features, starting from the initial wireframes provided by the client. We set the product’s design including creating user flows, architecture and visual assets within a Design System. The prototype includes all the key functionalities that a first version of the web application should contain: data upload and analysis, dashboards for understanding the information, risk and opportunity assessments and more.

A POWERFUL PROTOTYPE TO ATTRACT INVESTORS AND TEST WITH REAL USERS

The collaboration went smoothly and we hit the deadline thanks to a clear scope from day one and frequent communication with the client on a daily basis. Now, SpendSage’s team is using the prototype in meetings with investors and also to validate ideas with potential users. Together, we continue to discuss next steps and estimate the development of a first version of the product, to be tackled soon.
