Augusta, GA, October 3, 2014 – Rural Sourcing will host its annual Westobou Hackathon on October 3rd, 2014 in the historic Old Medical College of Georgia building in Augusta, GA. As a sponsor of the Friday Westobou festivities, Rural Sourcing has partnered with The Clubhou.se and the City of Augusta to create a college hackathon as a technology component of the Westobou Festival. Teams of college students from Georgia Regents University, Augusta Technical College, University of South Carolina- Aiken, Aiken Technical College, Georgia Southern University, Claflin University and Paine College will be given four hours to compete in the coding competition to develop a custom web application.
Seventeen teams are registered to compete in this year’s event. Kick-off is set for Friday at noon with judging beginning at 4:00 PM. Teams may present their solutions to a panel of judges in hopes of winning various prizes including paid internships with Rural Sourcing.

This event is the third hackathon Rural Sourcing, Inc. has held in Augusta. “Events of this kind have great impact in the community and give opportunities to young technology professionals to come together, tackle a challenge, and gain hands-on, resume worthy experience in their field.” says Margaux Kaynard, VP of Human Resources. “Students have the chance to demonstrate their education and skills; develop a creative solution to a problem and exercise their team building skills. While collaborating in a fun environment they can showcase their talent for high profile potential employers.”
